My Opening Sequence- Playground

Tormented

The film 'tormented' has influenced the opening sequence my group and I have made. It is a teen horror film which is the same genre as the opening sequence we have made. It is also set in a school which ours is too. The main character is a girl which is the same as ours. We have changed the costume that the girl is wearing. Instead of wearing school uniform, she is wearing normal every day clothes. We have tried to stick to the same conventions of a teen horror film but we have changed them as you will see in the power point presentation that my group and I have made

Re-shooting

On Monday 8th of February we had to re film our class room scene as we didn't have enough shot sizes in the first shoot of the classroom scene. We re-shot in a different classroom with the same teacher. One of the extras we had in the other scene wasn't available to do it so we shot it without her.

Thursday 10th December 2009 - playground scene

Mis-en-scene and Location

Bianca Goldman and I did the makeup for our actress. We brought makeup from our homes to put on her face.
We tested the makeup and the hair style on our actress who is Catrin George-Carey. We wanted to know what it looked like before we filmed our scene. we used the makeup we had to put bruises and blood marks on her face as it made the scene look more realistic. we wanted her to look as if she was in danger and had been in a fight. Her hair was messed up to look like someone had pulled her hair in the fight

The location we shot in was Courtland School in Mill Hill. We filmed in this location because it had a big playground. Before we shot we took pictures to see where to put the camera so we could get the best shot. The actress sat in the middle of the circle and we filmed around her. we filmed when the sun was setting and this was a beautiful effect because it gave the shots a orange light. It made the playground to be a scarier place and as there was only her in the playground, it gave a very creepy effect.

opening sequences that i researched

to kill a mockingbird
Go to the art of title sequence
I liked this title sequence because there was a lot of close up shots of different objects. all these objects are from the time the film was set and one of the titles are of a close up of someone drawing a mockingbird. all the names of the people who are in this film are in the title sequence as well as what they play in the film

William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet
Go to the art of title sequence
I liked this title sequence because it set the scene of what is going to happen and why everything in the film happens. It starts off with a TV which goes all crackly and then there is a news report. The women is speaking the prologue that Shakespeare actually wrote in his play. It goes on to introduce all the characters. It's not just told to you but also shown to you that these two families don't like each other

Domino
Go to the art of tile sequence
I liked this title sequence because it shows all the different character but all their different body parts. It shows what the film is about which is gun crime. There is a lot of different colour

Breaking the 30 degree rule

breaking the 180 degree rule

Preliminary task

The 180° rule is a basic guideline in film making that shows that two characters (or other elements) in the same scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other. If the camera passes over the imaginary axis connecting the two characters , it is called crossing the line. The new shot, from the opposite side, is known as a reverse angle. an example of this is , if peter is on the left and louis is on the right, then peter should be facing right at all times, even when louis is off the edge of the frame, and louis should always be facing left. Shifting to the other side of the characters on a cut, so that louis is now on the left side and peter is on the right, will disorient the viewer, and break the flow of the scene.

When shooting a scene you must make sure that whenever you cut, the next shot has to pick up from where it was left no matter what the camera angle is. Match on action makes sure that the same action and pace is kept from shot to shot so that it looks realistic and continuous. For example one person maybe sitting on the right then in the next shot they may be sitting on the left. Match on action make sure this doesn’t happen so that the scene looks realistic

Shot reverse shot is a film technique wherein one character is shown looking at another character (often off-screen), and then the other character is shown looking "back" at the first character. Since the characters are shown facing in opposite directions, the viewer assumes that they are looking at each other

Homework on Horror film

This shot shows a women in water with the head of a skeleton. it shows horror by having something scary in it which normally happens in scary films. The shot is taken from the front so it shows the whole of the skeleton head and it shows how the women is feeling. the camera is put put at the level of the water and the image is an upward image. The camera is zoomed up on the persons and the skeletons face to make the scene seem more scary to the audience. We can't see the skeletons eyes so we are likely to be more scared of it. the scene is scary because of the face of the skeleton and the face of the women. the womens mouth is wide open and it seems as if she is screaming out for someone to help her. the skeleton looks as if he is going to kill her
